Napoleon II — Nominal emperor in 1815, 1811–1832
The son of Napoleon, King of Rome in the cradle, he was proclaimed emperor by the Chambers at the second abdication and deposed a fortnight later without ever reigning; raised in Vienna as Duke of Reichstadt, he died there of consumption at twenty-one — he is the one counted by his cousin’s “III”. Answers are drawn from a corpus established and verified by an editorial team; each one shows its source.
When a piece of information is not in that collection, the encyclopedia says so rather than inventing it — that principle is what makes every answer it does give trustworthy.
