Entry
The Seine — River of the Paris Basin, from the Langres plateau to the Channel
Rising on the Langres plateau, it drains most of the Paris Basin, receives the Aube, the Yonne at Montereau, the Marne and the Oise, passes through Paris and reaches the Channel at Le Havre. Its meanders and gentle slope have made it, since antiquity, a trade route rather than an obstacle. (Editorial synthesis)
The Seine is 776 km long (measurement undated). (source: Larousse)

Answers are drawn from a corpus established and verified by an editorial team; each one shows its source.
When a piece of information is not in that collection, the encyclopedia says so rather than inventing it — that principle is what makes every answer it does give trustworthy.
