Necker — Genevan banker, Louis XVI’s director-general of finances
A Genevan banker and Protestant, he made his fortune in Paris and governed the kingdom’s finances without being able to bear the title, which his religion closed to him. He financed the American war by borrowing, published the king’s accounts — an unheard-of thing — and had to resign for having done so. (Editorial synthesis)

When a piece of information is not in that collection, the encyclopedia says so rather than inventing it — that principle is what makes every answer it does give trustworthy.
