Entry
Luynes — Louis XIII’s favourite, master of the government from 1617 to 1621
Falconer to the young king in 1611, he made himself his friend and the man of his majority: the plot that felled Concini in 1617 was his, and the exile of Marie de’ Medici to Blois left him the government. Duke and peer in 1619, he died at forty-three, at the height of his favour. (Editorial synthesis)
Luynes was born on 5 August 1578 (Julian calendar). (source: Encyclopædia Britannica)

Answers are drawn from a corpus established and verified by an editorial team; each one shows its source.
When a piece of information is not in that collection, the encyclopedia says so rather than inventing it — that principle is what makes every answer it does give trustworthy.
