Honoré de Balzac — Novelist, author of La Comédie humaine, 1799–1850
A ruined printer turned novelist, pursued all his life by his debts, he gathered his novels under a single title and set out to paint his century’s whole society: more than ninety novels and stories, published from 1829 to 1855. He married Madame Hanska in 1850, a few months before dying. (Editorial synthesis)
