The expulsion of the Jesuits — From the banishment by the parlement of Paris in 1762 to the royal edict of November 1764
The bankruptcy of a missionary father in the Antilles brought the order before a parlement full of its enemies. The king, who supported it, temporised for two years and then signed without conviction the edict that expelled it. The Enlightenment saw a victory; the kingdom’s schooling lost the order’s colleges. (Editorial synthesis)
The expulsion of the Jesuits ended in the order banished from the kingdom and its colleges closed. (source: BnF)

When a piece of information is not in that collection, the encyclopedia says so rather than inventing it — that principle is what makes every answer it does give trustworthy.
