Entry
Corneille — The author of Le Cid, 1606–1684, creator of classical tragedy
A Rouen lawyer who came to the theatre through comedy, protected and then thwarted by Richelieu, he gave Le Cid in 1637 and weathered the quarrel the new-born Académie made him over the rules. Horace, Cinna, Polyeucte followed; the Académie received him in 1647, Racine eclipsed him, and he died at an advanced age. (Editorial synthesis)

When a piece of information is not in that collection, the encyclopedia says so rather than inventing it — that principle is what makes every answer it does give trustworthy.
