Etymology From Middle English mistechen, from Old English mistǣċan (“to teach amiss, teach falsely”), equivalent to mis- + teach.

To teach incorrectly.

  • Men are mistaught many things: that violence and control of others are acceptable, that they are strong and therefore entitled to be violent. Similarly they are taught that they are not victims; that they can and should take care of themselves.
