Etymology From Malay luri, name of kind of parrot, said to be a dialectal variant of Malay nuri. Doublet of lourie. Unrelated to Spanish loro.

Any of various small, brightly coloured parrots native to Australasia. They are usually classified in the subfamily Loriinae.
