Etymology From edulcorate + -or, as it could be used to add small amounts of a sweetener.

Historical A device used to supply small quantities of liquid to any mixture, or to test tubes, etc. It was used by blowing into one tube inserted into a vial containing the liquid, forcing the liquid out another tube.
