daisy roots

noun

daisy roots

noun

Etymology Derives from a simile between daisies (the roots of which are hard to eradicate) and boots which are hard to take off. It is referred to in the traditional song "My Old Man's a Dustman" recorded by Lonnie Donegan during the 1950s: "he's got such a job to pull them off that 'e calls them daisy roots".
