bicapitalization

noun

bicapitalization

noun

Etymology From bi- + capitalization, or, by surface analysis, bi- + capitalize + -ation.

1

The practice of spelling a two-word name without a space, using a capital letter to indicate the start of each constituent word. (Most words thus formed, but not all, are trade names.)

  • Retain internal capitalization for trademark names that use bicapitalization, or intercaps, in which one or more letters within names are capitalized in addition to the names' first letter (eg, ScienceDirect and AstraZeneca). However, convert trademark names to conventional capitalization when they use all capital or all lowercase letters. / House of Science not HOUSE OF SCIENCE; Alzheimer's Association not alzheimer's association2024, Council of Science Editors, The CSE Manual: Scientific Style and Format for Authors, Editors, and Publishers, 9th edition, Council of Science Editors and University of Chicago Press, →DOI, →ISBN, page 198:
