Cognate with Middle Low German bewinden (“to entwine, wrap”), German bewinden (“intertwine, wind around”), Gothic 𐌱𐌹𐍅𐌹𐌽𐌳𐌰𐌽 (biwindan, “to entwine, wrap”).
